The instrument is privately owned and, apart from a few distinctive features of the model and the choice of wood, differs little from the violin dating from 1649. Since this instrument was also made at a time when the technique of string winding was already known, it is assumed to have a wound G string. However, its neck angle, straight neck, and short fingerboard still point to the early Baroque period. This instrument can also be set up in the early Baroque style with a lower bridge and unwound gut strings.
